Information

The Bachelor of Arts in Arabic (BA Arabic) program offers students a comprehensive understanding of the Arabic language, literature, and culture. Through this program, students will gain proficiency in both written and spoken Arabic, as well as a deep understanding of the historical and cultural contexts in which the language is used.

Eligibility Criteria:

In order to be eligible for the BA Arabic program, students must meet the following criteria:

1. Academic Requirements: Applicants must have successfully completed their secondary education or its equivalent, with a minimum GPA of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale.

2. Language Proficiency: Proficiency in Arabic is essential for admission to the program. Applicants must demonstrate their language proficiency by providing the results of a standardized Arabic language test, such as the Arabic Language Proficiency Test (ALPT) or the Test of Arabic as a Foreign Language (TAFL). A minimum score of 60% is required for admission.

3. Personal Statement: Applicants are required to submit a personal statement outlining their motivation for studying Arabic, their academic and career goals, and any relevant experiences or achievements. The personal statement should be well-written and demonstrate the applicant's passion for the Arabic language and culture.

4. Letters of Recommendation: Two letters of recommendation are required, preferably from individuals who can speak to the applicant's academic abilities, language skills, and potential for success in the BA Arabic program.

5. Interview: Shortlisted applicants may be invited for an interview, either in person or via video conference. The purpose of the interview is to assess the applicant's communication skills, language proficiency, and overall suitability for the program.

Please note that meeting the eligibility criteria does not guarantee admission to the BA Arabic program. Admission decisions are based on a holistic review of the applicant's qualifications and the availability of spaces in the program.
